The only ambulance service in Darien, Connecticut just happens to be run by high school teenagers. High School 9-1-1 follows this unique organization for a year as the teens and their adult mentors serve the needs of 20,000 residents and responds to over 1,500 emergency calls annually.

Tim Warren was a member of the teen-run ambulance service from 1982 to 1985. The responsibility it gave him inspired him to make this film today. He now runs his own production company.
